Les données du recensement de 2011 commencent à être disponible en ligne
Statistics Canada is starting to release the data for the 2011 Census. The last census was in 2006 so it will be good to use census data that is more up to date and to be able to see changes that have happened in our communities since 2006.
However,t the data release is staggered over the year, you can see the details: http://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/index-eng.cfm
This new census data will be integrated in the CIMS as it comes out. For the CIMS members, you can even get an update of your community data report.
Another new fact with this new Census cycle is that some data is released for free to everyone. However, so far the data is not that easy to download and manipulate and moreover only a limited number of variables geographic levels will be available for free.
More reasons to join the CIMS to have an easier access to the free data and to have access to more specific data through the Community Data consortium (http://communitydata-donneescommunautaires.ca/Home) when you become a CIMS member.
